Some things arrive without being chased. Some stay. And some quietly carry us back to where it all began.
Serendipity (縁 En) — the invisible thread that draws two things together at exactly the right time. Not luck. Not accident. A deeper current beneath ordinary days.
Bond (結 Musubi) — the quiet tying together of moments and people. Meaningful bonds are not constructed. They are recognized, and allowed to exist.
Bud — Ensō of Returning (蕾 Tsubomi) — a single unbroken circle moving from deepest indigo (藍) to a bud (蕾). No matter how deep something grows, it began as a bud. The circle stays slightly open: nothing here is finished, only returning.
Read together, the three pieces trace one story. An encounter. A bond. And a memory of where it started.
Each piece was brushed slowly by hand in sumi ink, using traditional Shodō technique. Nothing was corrected. The bleeds, the pauses, and the places where the brush ran dry all remain.
Hang them together in a shared space, or give them to two people whose story is still unfolding.
For the meetings that were meant to be, and everything they grow into.
Included: 縁 En (Serendipity), 結 Musubi (Bond) and 蕾 Tsubomi (Bud, ensō of returning). Three unframed prints in the size you choose, ready for a frame of your own.
The Work
The Work
Most wall art is decorative. This piece is purposeful.
Each design begins as an original, hand-drawn calligraphy work — created slowly, using traditional Japanese Shodō brush techniques. Not designed on a screen. Written by hand, once, in a single session.
The final print preserves everything that was present in that moment: the natural movement of the stroke, the weight and texture of the ink, the subtle variations that no digital process can replicate. It is art that does not demand attention. It grounds the space around it.
Look closely at the edges of the brushstroke.
Where the ink thins and the white of the paper shows through — that is 掠れ (kasure). The dry stroke. The moment where the brush was moving faster than the ink could fully follow.
In mass-produced calligraphy prints, this quality is smoothed out or corrected in reproduction. In BrushForma prints, it is preserved intentionally.
掠れ is not a flaw. In Japanese brushwork, it is one of the most expressive qualities a stroke can carry — evidence that the mark was made by a living hand, at speed, with full commitment. It cannot be manufactured. It can only happen once.
What you see in this print is exactly what was there when the brush lifted from the paper. Nothing corrected. Nothing added.
